Paris Fall 2008 Fashion Week - Stella McCartney

Stella McCartney's Fall 08 collection didn't seem to have much of a unifying theme. There was an overall drab color scheme, but then there was the occasional pop of color. There were several oversized and shapeless looks, but also form-fitting ones. There was sexy, and there was...not sexy.

The first...err...dress? looks like a remnant from a camp blanket, secured with a belt. The center look is like a voluminous period nightgown, albeit with very pretty embroidery. The coat/dress in the third position, however, has a wonderful shape and print.

First we have a nice classic suit; second is a shapeless dress that reminds me of something my much-older cousin wore in the 70s, then passed on to me to play "dress up." Finally is a great oversized jacket.

I think the heraldic horse blanket works far better as a coat than as a dress.

And finally, we get a look at her selection of schizophrenic eveningwear. The tight blue velvet column dress looks like it was added to the collection completely at random. The black cut-out dress is just this side of trampy. But the gray dress is gorgeous, as is the evening coat.
